"Why do you write like you need it to survive?" because he does he does he does. he wouldn't have survived if he hadn't begun clerking for the landlord or worked in a trading charter, jobs that inherently require skills in writing. he wrote about the hurricane's destruction of his hometown so poignantly that people decided to help him in furthering his education, KEEPING HIM ALIVE. and as much as he wanted to be something else, as much as he wanted a troop of men to command, hamilton as an adult/young man was NOTHING without his writing. he wouldn't have been washington's right hand man, he wouldn't have gone to the winter's ball to meet eliza, he wouldn't have wooed her with his letters or convinced her father, he wouldn't have built his career or been a founding father. he would have died, a bastard, orphan, impoverished. dead. "Why do you write like you need it to survive?" because he DOES. that's why hamilton could never let an insult go, that's why he always needed to write back, that's why he never stopped reaching for more, because without his writing, without his wit, without his rapid responses, he is NOTHING

Okay I’ve had this thought for a while now so I’m gonna post about it before I forget
So, in Non-Stop’s first chorus, Burr says “Why do you assume you’re the smartest in the room?” three times (whole chorus is eight lines)
Second verse he says “Why do you always say what you believe?” two times (whole chorus is six lines)
I’ve always pictured this as Burr slowly losing his patience with Hamilton in a way and making his own lines shorter(? If that makes sense?)

Okay so in Hamilton (in Non Stop) there's the part that goes like
Burr: Alexander?
Hamilton: Aaron Burr, sir
Burr: Well, it's the middle of the night
Hamilton: Can we confer, sir?
Burr: Is this a legal matter?
And when I first heard that, I thought he meant legal like "is what you're gonna talk about legal?" Like does the law allow that?
Idk why but it happened and it's so funny to me that Burr would assume Alex would come to his house to talk about something illegal, and ik that it's not how it was meant but I feel like that would still be accurate for both of them 😭

What's been your craziest fandom experience?
it's gotta be the time when I was in the lounge at college and a friend said "I'm only nineteen" and I said "but my mind is older" and the guy playing pool by himself said "these new york city streets get colder, i shoulder..." and then he and i rapped the entirety of non-stop, much to my friend's bewilderment.

Summary: Alexander Hamilton never intended to get hooked on drugs when he entered college, but writing papers was the most reliable way he knew to get cash. And the most reliable way to get more work done, well, that was uppers. He was doing his best to tread water, get his own work and everyone else's done along the way when his dealer got spooked and refused to play ball with him anymore. Aaron Burr was just a sophomore student trying to keep his head down and not draw any attention to himself, a hard thing to do when rooming with Thomas Jefferson's middle man, James Madison. A goal that became even more impossible when he made the rash decision to help Alex get sober in the wake of being left dealer-less.

Note from submitter: This was probably my favourite Hamilton fic back in the day!
